Warhounds Veterans: Roster, Crow and Fidget Skills

Explore the Warhounds roster and tested Crow and Fidget skill examples: Aiming, Sprint and Freeshot, with screenshots and recruitment limits.

Warhounds’ current official website advertises ten unique veterans with their own traits, stories, and abilities, alongside ordinary recruits. Steam’s Gang’s All Here achievement requires hiring all veterans, and the August 31 Hotfix #6 notes a fix for that achievement failing to unlock.

This page owns veteran identity and roster evidence. Use recruitment, medical care, and downtime for the hiring workflow, displayed requirements, prices, and roster-capacity questions. Use classes and squad roles for class mechanics and class-specific abilities.

What makes a veteran different?

The official website describes veterans as authored characters with individual traits, stories, and abilities. The pre-release Dev Log #7 also described veterans reacting to missions, sharing stories aboard the helicopter, and interacting with one another. That is characterization evidence, not a current skill-value table.

The released Action Heroes Pack is another useful boundary: its Steam page says the DLC provides an alternative look for nine veterans. It does not identify those nine, does not change the official ten-veteran roster count, and does not document recruitment conditions.

Do not turn those statements into a universal power ranking. A veteran label does not by itself prove a fixed stat advantage, weapon restriction, price, or unlock chapter. Those details need character-level evidence from the released game.

Official Barracks personnel screenshot from version 1.0.0 (2997). Eight callsigns are readable in the captured roster: Crow, Diesel, Fidget, Frost, Grunt, MayB, Rook and Shaman. View full-size image. Image: Everplay DMCC / Brightika, Inc., via the official press kit.

What the official Barracks snapshot confirms

The press-kit image is useful because it is a released-game roster view with a visible build label. It supports the following narrow observations without inventing a ten-person dossier:

Callsign Displayed level Displayed readiness
Crow 3 Ready
Diesel 3 Ready
Fidget 3 Ready
Frost 3 Ready
Grunt 3 Ready
MayB 4 Ready
Rook 3 Ready
Shaman 3 Ready

The same rows show class icons and a purple three-star badge, but the screenshot does not print a text legend for either marker. This guide therefore does not use the image alone to map every icon to a class or to declare every visible row a confirmed recruitable veteran. A named roster appearance is evidence of the operative’s presence, not by itself their recruitment trigger, price, personal skill, or veteran status.

MayB now has a captured character profile

Our MayB guide records Alena Morozova, her four displayed skills or traits—Resuscitation, Thrifty, Large Medkit, and Go, Go, Go!—and the current attributes visible in our October 13, 2026 gameplay capture. The character-page screenshot, wh-015, is from a session showing BUILD 1.0.22(3313), separate from the older Barracks image above.

The page also includes an October 15 combat example: MayB spent 1 AP on Go, Go, Go!, giving a zero-AP Crow another action that he used to shoot. It does not establish her formal class, veteran classification, recruitment trigger, hiring price, or an optimal build. Armor and Speed readings remain unresolved and are documented in the profile.

Crow and Fidget: character pages and tested skills

Our October 15, 2026 Distant Smoke / SEASONED session recorded two more character pages in BUILD 1.0.22(3313). These connect readable names and skills to the operatives we controlled. They do not establish a hiring offer or classify every character in the roster.

Callsign Character-page name Displayed skills and traits Original screenshot
Crow Benedict Thorn Squad Sight; Distracting Shot; High Ground Advantage; Aiming Crow’s character page
Fidget Marek Kowalski Sprint; Special Training; Lucky Bastard; Freeshot Fidget’s character page

Crow: spend one AP to improve the next shot’s preview

With Crow holding an Upgraded Stylet Sniper Rifle, we inspected a Rookie at 67% Precision / 26% Crit, activated Aiming, then inspected the same target without moving. Crow spent 1 AP; the new preview showed 87% Precision / 36% Crit and Skill bonus +20. Ammunition did not decrease until he fired.

That is an increase of 20 percentage points in the displayed hit chance and 10 percentage points in the displayed critical-hit chance for this example. After the shot, MayB supplied another AP. Crow’s next preview against the same target returned to 67% / 26%: Aiming’s bonus did not carry into that follow-up. The full preview comparison shows each checkpoint.

Compare the preview benefit with the action you give up. This test demonstrates a working sequence, not that Aiming is always preferable to another shot or a move. Squad Sight, Distracting Shot and High Ground Advantage still have character-page descriptions rather than isolated effect tests here.

Fidget: use Sprint for movement, then Freeshot without spending the last AP

The tested sequence used Fidget’s Argument Shotgun:

  1. Activate Sprint while Fidget has 2 AP. A green +1 MP appeared; the two ordinary AP remained available.
  2. Check the route cost before moving. Our route showed 1 MP + 1 AP. After moving, the green MP was gone and Fidget had 1 AP left.
  3. Open Freeshot and inspect the target. Its preview showed 0 AP and 1 ammunition unit. The ability is free of AP cost in this example, not free of ammunition use.
  4. Confirm and check the resources. Fidget still had 1 AP; ammunition fell from 3 units to 2. We then used the remaining AP for a normal shot, leaving one ammunition unit and LAST ROUND.
Fidget after Freeshot, with one ordinary AP remaining and two of three ammunition units filled.

Fidget after Freeshot: the ordinary AP remains available. Captured by Warhounds.org on October 15, 2026, BUILD 1.0.22(3313). Open the full screenshot. Warhounds imagery belongs to its respective rights holders.

Compare the Sprint activation, mixed movement cost, movement result and Freeshot preview. The complete action record also includes the following normal shot.

Keep MP separate from AP when planning this sequence. We did not measure a fixed number of tiles per MP, a full cooldown cycle, Special Training’s climbing behavior or Lucky Bastard’s survival effect. A floating shotgun damage number during the firing animation is also insufficient to establish the whole attack’s total damage.

What is still needed for complete veteran profiles

A scoped character entry can publish the fields it actually documents, as the MayB profile does. A complete veteran dossier still needs evidence tying the same released-game character to the remaining fields:

  • the callsign and an explicit veteran indicator or equivalent released-game context;
  • the class in text, or an independently verified class-icon legend;
  • the personal skill name plus the full in-game description or an accurate, scoped paraphrase;
  • the recruitment requirement and any displayed price from that exact offer;
  • the game version/build and the source timestamp or screenshot provenance.

A displayed price proves the price in that captured campaign state only. It should not be promoted to a universal fixed cost unless repeated evidence or an official rule establishes that.

Gang’s All Here did not unlock after hiring all veterans

The developer’s August 31 Hotfix #6 notes specifically list a fix for the achievement failing to unlock after recruiting all veterans.

If you encounter the same symptom:

  1. Check that your installation includes the August 31 fix. An older report may describe the issue the developer addressed.
  2. Distinguish the two roster achievements. Gang’s All Here concerns hiring all veterans; All the King’s Men concerns hiring the maximum number of soldiers. Filling the roster is not the same condition as collecting every veteran.
  3. Compare your hiring history with the achievement requirement. A character appearing in a mission, dialogue, or Barracks screenshot is not proof that you hired them in the current campaign.
  4. Keep your version and campaign details if it still fails. Record the recruitment state when reporting the remaining issue.

The hotfix note does not say whether the achievement is awarded retroactively on every affected save or whether another event must trigger the check. It also does not justify restarting a campaign as a guaranteed fix.

Frequently asked questions

Are veterans and Veteran difficulty the same thing?

No. Veterans are characters in the roster. Veteran is also the name of a difficulty referenced in Steam’s public achievements; that label does not identify a recruit’s class or hiring condition.

Does a character named in a developer diary count as a recruitable veteran?

Not automatically. Pre-release Dev Log #7 mentions President Kanindo, Moro, Wei-Lin, and Ali in its character discussion. Those mentions alone do not establish that each is a recruitable veteran in the released game.

Were the portraits changed?

Yes. An official April 17 art update said temporary AI-generated portraits were being replaced with renders of in-game 3D character models. Old portraits can therefore be an unreliable way to match a guide to a current character. See Warhounds AI portraits for the announcement.

Where should I look for prices and unlock conditions?

Use the recruitment, medical care, and downtime guide. This page deliberately keeps character identity evidence separate from the campaign-specific offer that determines whether a hire is available now.
